The platform defaults everyone as a “Johnny 1-Lot”, or a quantity of 1 for options or futures. If that matches your trading style then you keep it that way. Additionally, the default order size for stocks is 100. You may set a default order quantity for stocks, options, and futures orders by going to the Settings menu in all three trading platforms.

Desktop Platform Instructions

Setting Default Order Quantity

1. Head to the Settings menu by clicking any gear icon located throughout the platform.
2. Once inside the Settings menu, click the “TRADE” module along the left-hand side.
3. Within the Trade module, click the respective product tab (stocks, options, or futures) along the top side of the Settings menu.
4. You will see a drop-down menu beneath “Default Option Order Quantity” where you may select a default quantity, but you may also enter a value by double-clicking the number.

Setting Default Order Quantity for Options

1. Sign in to tastytrade web browser platform.
2. Once you are logged in, navigate to the trading page, and then click on the settings icon in the top right. The platform menu will pop out in the middle of the platform. 
3. Click on the Trade settings tab
4. The trade setting menu drop will appear. Immediately below click on the Options settings tab. 
5. Adjust order quantity and increment in options order settings.

Setting Default Order Quantity for Stocks

Mobile Platform

Tap the account in the top left corner of the app. The accounts detail menu will slide out from the left. Tap on Settings. From the settings menu you can set the default order quantity for stocks, options and futures, as illustrated below.
