Although you may be on holiday at the beach, it doesn't mean that the markets are on holiday too. However, there are some days when the markets are off, while some markets have abbreviated schedules, like futures.
Below, we've broken down the days you can expect the stock and options markets to be closed, including modified futures trading schedules and upcoming banking holidays that can affect position settlement and money movements.
Stock and Equity Options Markets
The schedule below affects equities, equity options, and cash-settled index options.
It's important to note that some market holidays that land midweek may have an abbreviated trading session the day before or after. The abbreviated trading session does not affect the closing price used to determine whether an options contract expires in or out of the money. Additionally, options that continue trading 15 minutes after the market close are unaffected.
